Location Overview |
||||
Magangué, located in the Bolívar Department of Colombia, is a vibrant city known for its rich cultural heritage and strategic location along the Magdalena River. As one of the main trading hubs in the region, Magangué offers visitors a unique glimpse into the daily life and traditions of the Colombian Caribbean. Magangué's colonial architecture, including the impressive Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, provides a fascinating backdrop for exploring the city's historical roots. For hundreds of years Magangué has been a key stopover for travelers heading to the historic town of Mompox from Cartagena, making it an essential part of any regional itinerary. Historically, the only way to cross the Magdalena River was by ferry, but in March 2020 two bridges were constructed to open up traffic and drastically reduce travel time. |
