This afternoon is a free afternoon for us to explore whatever our hearts desire. Maybe a museum or two?

Day 8: Prague - Oberammergau, Germany

Breakfast in Prague, and then we set out again to the Czech countryside. With a quick stopover in Bavaria, we'll continue on to Oberammergau. Once we've arrived there, dinner will also be included.

Day 9: Oberammergau - Passion Play

The big day! The 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play!

During the Thirty Years War (1618-1648), the small town of Oberammergau, Germany, suffered deaths due to war and the bubonic plague, just like many Central European cities and villages. The people of the town in 1633, sick of the continued death, vowed to God that if they were spared from the plague from then on, they would perform a play every ten years.

After the vow, the death rate slowly decreased until there was only 1 death in July of 1633. So the entire town kept their part of the bargain and performed the first play in 1634, after which they were completely spared from the plague then on.

Since then, the town comes together every ten years to perform The Passion for increasingly large crowds. It takes over 2000 participants from the town to be put on, all of whom are residents of Oberammergau.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be included today.

Day 10: Oberammergau Region - Tour Ends
