"About the Dash"
I have resided in Florida for almost 20 years after moving here from Upstate NY – the story of most people living here in FL. I have 2 children, 2 stepsons and 4 grandchildren. My earliest memories of travel included family trips to Texas, day trips in the Adirondacks and to Canada, a trip to California when I was 14, and to Quebec City with my 8th grade French class. The love of travel was always there – new cultures, different foods, enjoying new places, making memories with family and friends. In this “other” chapter of my life, I want to explore this infatuation more, and share my experiences with others. Everyone should travel somewhere, sometime in their life – and I want to help them create memorable adventures!
Since I have traveled most often in the Caribbean, I would say this area is my specialty. Being from Upstate NY I have knowledge of the Adirondacks, Montreal & surrounding areas. I also have vast background in corporate event planning giving me the experience to help any group or organization with planning their event on a cruise ship or other destination.
Best Travel Experience: I would have to say my first cruise on the Monarch of the Seas. Being my first cruise there had been so much mystique about cruising, and I remember the wondrous feeling of boarding the ship – even though I still get excited about every cruise, that first time is the most memorable. We also visited CocoCay, which is still one of my favorite ports of call when cruising on Royal Caribbean.
Most Recent Trip: Royal Caribbean – Independence of the Seas to Labadee, Haiti and Falmouth, Jamaica in April 2017.
Where do you want to travel to next? We have 2 trips planned, November 2017 on Empress of the Seas to Key West and Nassau, then in May of 2018 on Explorer of the Seas to ALASKA! Next on the plan is Hawaii…..Maybe 2019?
Funny or Unique Traveling Story? All of our travels are filled with laughter and funny moments – things just seem to happen to us! I guess a unique story would be taking my parents on their first cruise in October 2016. It was something I always wanted to do, and while it had it’s trying moments (my parents are not very adventurous), I am so glad I did it.
What do you look for in traveling? Of course FOOD is always one of the best parts of travel – I love to see the culture and usually try to choose excursions that will allow me the opportunity to see cities and neighborhoods in the city we are visiting.
Favorite place to be in the entire world? The balcony of a cruise ship – Aft if I have a choice!
Best trip you’ve planned? I just recently helped a coworker plan a cruise with his friends and children. Trying to keep needs and budget in mind, we found the best itinerary, dates and cost for their travel plans.
What is your travel planning motto? Live your Dash!
Favorite place to get food? It isn’t 4 star or diamond dining, but there is a restaurant in Cozumel that we go to when our trips take us there – the Casa del Mar Resort has great Mexican food at very reasonable prices, and you can walk there from the port.
Favorite souvenir from a trip? My husband and I participated in a scavenger hunt on Freedom of the Seas – we had to gather signatures of staff from different countries. We had a BLAST, and won second place – we received bronze Royal Caribbean medals!
